Gus, our Sandylands therapy dog, visited school again recently to work with children. Kate, and dog Gus are from the charity Therapy Dogs Nationwide and are going to be doing the Paws and Read scheme. The Scheme is an initiative whereby sociable and specially trained Therapy Dogs help children to develop a passion for reading. Reading to dogs can help children to develop their reading skills and can also help children to build confidence, and self-esteem and can encourage positive behaviour.
